About this centre

Our Chelmsford assessment centre is located on the corner of New London Road and Parkway/A1060 and is situated within the Gemini Centre, which is the same location as Chelmsford Jobcentre Plus and shares the same entrance.

Travelling by bus or coach 

Most buses coming into Chelmsford call at the bus station in Duke Street, almost opposite the railway station. The Chelmsford Retail Market bus stop (routes 1, 1A, 1B, 2, 3, 3A, 3B and 6) and Job Centre bus stop (routes 7, 14, 15, 15A, 32, 42, 42A, 52, 100, 140 and 351) are the stops closest to the Assessment Centre. If using the Sandon Park and Ride service, alight at the Parkway bus stop.

Travelling by train

Chelmsford station, served by Abellio Greater Anglia trains from London Liverpool Street to Colchester, Ipswich, Braintree and Clacton-on-Sea is approximately 10 – 15 minutes’ walk from the Assessment Centre.

Travelling by car

Main routes into Chelmsford include the A12, A414 and A1060. The Gemini Centre is located in Chelmsford city centre, close to Essex County Cricket Ground (the distinctive floodlights are a useful landmark for locating the Gemini Centre).

Car parking

Although there is no visitor parking at the assessment centre, there are several public car parks nearby, the nearest of which are the High Chelmer, Parkway and Meadows car parks. There are designated spaces for blue badge holders in nearby Bellmead, New London Road and Barrack Square. Parking is available for cycles and motorcycles in Bellmead.

When you arrive

Please remember to bring your identification and appointment letter with you.

Enter the building via the main Jobcentre Plus entrance (press the intercom button if the Jobcentre is closed, e.g. at weekends). A member of staff will escort you to the Assessment Centre located at the rear of the ground floor.

Other helpful information

If an emergency evacuation of the building is required, such as a fire alarm, there are 15 steps from the rear of the building. If you think that you would be unable to walk down 15 steps in the event of an emergency, please call Ingeus or using the number on your appointment letter at least two days before your appointment date. We can arrange for your assessment to take place in a room from with step-free access. Please also notify a member of staff as soon as you arrive.

There is ramp for wheelchair access at the main front entrance and an intercom button to speak to a member of staff if assistance is needed.
