About this centre

Our Ipswich assessment centre is located next to Jobcentre Plus near the centre of Ipswich town centre. The assessment centre is accessible by bus using the park and ride service. The main entrance will be clearly signposted with an Assessment Centre sign.

Assessments carried out at this centre:

  • Work Capability Assessments for people claiming Universal Credit (UC) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Other assessments for people claiming Specialist Benefits including Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) or Veterans UK

Travelling by bus or coach

Most buses into Ipswich from the surrounding areas terminate at the bus station in the Old Cattle Market, a couple of minutes’ walk from the assessment centre. Most local buses terminate at the Tower Ramparts bus station. Park and Ride buses stop outside Revolutions Bar, opposite Silent Street.

Travelling by train

Ipswich station, served by First Great Eastern and Anglia Railways services, is approximately 15-20 minutes’ walk away. A bus service (Superoute 66) runs from the railway station. Alight at Revolution Bar, opposite Silent Street. The assessment centre is next to the Jobcentre Plus.

Travelling by car

Main routes into Ipswich include the A12 London / Lowestoft road and the A14 Bury St. Edmunds / Felixstowe road. Follow signs to the Buttermarket Shopping Centre where the nearest parking facilities are located. To avoid traffic, make use of the Park and Ride bus services that run from London Road and Bury Road (both accessible from the A14) every ten minutes.

Car parking

Parking is available directly outside of the building, with two accessible spaces within the car park. Street parking is also available free of charge.

Please Note: The assessment centre is accessed down the alleyway to the left of the Jobcentre Plus.
