About this centre

Our Wood Green Assessment Centre is located at Granta House. The assessment centre is accessible by bus and there is limited car parking close by – please see the car parking section for further details. The main entrance will be clearly signposted with an Assessment Centre sign.

Assessments carried out at this centre:

  • Work Capability Assessments for people claiming Universal Credit (UC) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Other assessments for people claiming Specialist Benefits including Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) or Veterans UK

Travelling by bus or coach

Bus routes 184 and W3 stop closest to the assessment centre in Station Road. Alight at the Barratt Avenue bus stops. Alight at Wood Green Station on bus routes 29, 67, 121, 123, 141, 144, 221, 230, 232, 243, 329 and W4.

Travelling by train

Wood Green Assessment Centre is between 5 and 10 minutes’ walk from Wood Green station (Piccadilly line). On leaving the station, cross High Road using the pedestrian crossing and continue straight ahead along Station Road.

Alexandra Palace station is also between 5 and 10 minutes’ walk away and is served by Great Northern trains between Moorgate and Welwyn Garden City or Hertford North. Turn right on leaving the station and cross Wood Green Common using the New River Path.

Travelling by car

Much of the street parking in the local area is for resident permit holders only. Continue onto Mayes Road and the assessment centre is next door to Jobcentre Plus.

Car parking

Much of the street parking in the local area is for resident permit holders only. There is a limited number of parking bays in Mayes Road, for which drivers are required to pay by phone (see paybyphone) for a maximum stay of two hours. There are three parking bays designated for blue badge holders on the west side of Mayes Road. The nearest secure car park is the Mall Wood Green West car park, accessed from Caxton Road.

Remember to bring your identification and appointment letter with you.

The entrance to the Assessment Centre is via the ramp and set of doors on the left as you face the building from Western Road. Please press the intercom button on arrival.
